"CONNECTING THE PAST 

THROUGH THE PRESENT"

The Greek Heritage Project/ Museum was established in 2001 at the Greek Community Centre of Victoria. The museum is dedicated to preserving the rich Greek history of Victoria and around the country through research and education. The museum is currently undertaking an extensive genealogy project documenting the people and history of our community dating back to first Greek to reach Vancouver Island, Juan De Fuca (John "Ioannis" Fokas).

MISSION

  • Research, share, and preserve the history and experiences of Greek Canadians in Victoria and British Columbia.                                                    

  • Celebrate the rich traditions of Greek culture and its contributions to Victoria.                                                       

  • Maintain a museum dedicated to research, and exhibitions.                        

  • To collect and preserve photographs, videos, and other media of members of the community and their activities.    

  • To create a genealogical database of the Greek Community in Victoria.          

  • Promote the sharing and passing of history and culture to future generations, scholars and schools.
