About the New Horizon’s Program
The New Horizon’s Program is a dynamic initiative designed to foster meaningful connections between youth and seniors. This 9-week program, conducted three times over the course of 40 weeks, creates a platform for intergenerational learning and community building through weekly sessions focusing on various topics.
Position Summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic and organized New Horizon’s Program Facilitator to lead and manage the New Horizon’s Program. This role involves recruiting youth participants, engaging senior participants, coordinating presenters, and ensuring the smooth execution of all program sessions. The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator, skilled in event coordination, and passionate about creating enriching experiences for both youth and seniors.
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment and Engagement:
- Youth Recruitment: Identify, recruit, and engage youth participants to join and contribute to the weekly sessions.
- Senior Engagement: Promote the program to senior communities and gather participants for each series.
Program Coordination:
- Presenter Management: Source and schedule presenters for each session, ensuring a diverse and relevant range of topics.
- Session Facilitation: Organize, facilitate, and oversee the weekly sessions, ensuring they run smoothly and effectively.
Logistics and Administration:
- Scheduling: Coordinate session times, ensuring flexibility for evening and weekend sessions as required.
- Arrangements: Handle all session arrangements, including venue setup, materials preparation, and any technical needs.
Communication and Outreach:
- Promotional Activities: Develop and implement strategies to promote the program and attract participants.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain effective communication with participants, presenters, and other stakeholders.
Program Support:
- Feedback and Improvement: Gather feedback from participants and presenters to continually improve the program.
- Report Generation: Prepare reports on program progress, attendance, and outcomes.
Qualifications
Experience:
- Previous experience in program facilitation, youth engagement, or senior services is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to organize and manage events or programs.
Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Competence in using technology for scheduling and communication.
Other Requirements:
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required by the program schedule.
- A valid driver's license or reliable transportation may be needed for travel to different session locations.
Education:
- A background in social work, education, community development, or a related field is advantageous but not mandatory.
Compensation
- Pay is $25-30 per hour, commensurate with experience.
